In 1994, Rasmussen College, then a Nationally Accredited school, began a multi-year process to earn the right to become a Regionally Accredited college. We received approval from the Higher Learning Commission in 2001, and were recognized as a Regionally Accredited institution.
For colleges, the word 'accreditation' means 'quality'. This is a very important issue when it comes to choosing a college. Rasmussen College has earned Regional Accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. We share Regional Accreditation with a lot of other well known and highly respected colleges. Do your research and be sure to choose a school (ahem, like Rasmussen College) that is regionally accredited.
Here are some of the advantages of choosing a college that is Regionally Accredited:

Credit Transfers. Generally speaking, transfer credits from a Regionally Accredited College are more likely to be accepted at other schools. |

Quality of Teachers. Regionally Accredited Colleges are required to have 67% of all faculties achieve at least one degree level higher than the highest level offered at their institution (70% of our full-time faculty have a Master's Degree or higher!). |

General Education. Regionally Accredited Colleges place emphasis on skills such as communication, problem solving, and the ability to find and evaluate information. These are key skills to employers. |
